HPV vaccination coverage and disparities among three populations at increased risk for HIVDOI: 10.21037/10193 Abstract: Rates of cervical, oropharynx, anal, and other cancers continue to rise in the United States (1-4). Many of these cancers are associated with the human papilloma virus (HPV), which is the most common sexually transmitted infection. The majority of sexually active men and women will acquire at least one form of the virus in their lifetime. While many HPV strains clear on their own and do not require treatment, there are at least 13 types of HPV that are considered high risk because they can persist and progress to cancers (5)
