Post-thoracotomy pain syndrome (PTPS) is a difficult complication for thoracic surgeons to control. In PTPS, pain and anxiety continue after discharge, and many patients complain of symptoms. Anti-inflammatory analgesics are ineffective in many cases, and outpatient consultations are required to explain the condition to patients.
