First Hydrogenation Enhancement in TiFe Alloys for Hydrogen Storage Doped with YttriumDOI: https://doi.org/10.3390/met9020242 Abstract: The aim of this investigation was to improve the first hydrogenation of TiFe by adding yttrium. The compositions studied were TiFe + x wt.% Y with x = 4, 6, and 8. From electron microscopy it was found that all alloys were multiphase with a matrix of TiFe phase containing less than 0.4 at.% of Y and a secondary phase rich in yttrium. When x increased, the chemical compositions of the matrix changed and the secondary phase changed. The sample with 8% of yttrium had the fastest kinetics. The hydrogen capacity increased with the amount of Y. View Full-Tex
