Summer 2019 Introduction

In the Summer 2019 issue of Perspectives in Health Information Management, authors of one study explain why health information management (HIM) should be included in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education. The study, “An Exploratory Study Demonstrating the Health Information Management Profession as a STEM Discipline” offers a careful review of the HIM competencies approved by AHIMA, which illustrates the role of HIM professionals in informatics, data analytics, and data use.
