THE EFFECTIVENESS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AS DISTANCE LEARNING TECHNIQUES IN DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC TRENDS AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTSAbstract: The aim of this research is to know the effectiveness of the information technology as distance learning techniques in the development of scientific attitudes/trends among university students. For this purpose we chose a randomly sample consist of (51) students from the first class in the Department of electrical techniques ( branch of electrical power ) in the Technical Institute of Nasiriyah during the second semester of the academic year (2012-2013) which divided into three equivalent groups of , two experimental and one control group which studied four issues for the theoretical electrical installations . And limited the teaching goals and the teaching plans for the three groups by traditional method. And built the scale of the students scientific attitudes which consist of (30) items and doing the validity and reliability to it by using the suitable statistical methods. The research began for the application of the scale of the students scientific attitudes to the three groups together and observed there are no statistically significant differences between them. And the researcher began the process of teaching, where the three groups are studying the material together in the traditional method in the lecture, and the first experimental group used the Internet network before the lecture and the second experimental group used the Internet network after the lecture to get additional information about the material which studied. And continued teaching for four weeks were then re-apply the scale of the student’s scientific attitudes, and the results were analyzed by using suitable statistical methods. The research reach that the scientific attitudes were growth in the second experimental group more than the first experimental group and the control group, and conclude the efficiency of the information technology in development of the scientific attitudes in university students and recommended the importance of use it for this purpose also suggested some of research complementary to this research in this area
