Abstract:

Tuna is recognized as a high-end marine economic fish in the world. Due to its high market economy value and huge market demand, the capture-based tuna farming has developed rapidly in the world since the 1990s. The culture areas are mainly concentrated in the Mediterranean countries, as well as Japan, Mexico, Australia and other countries. However, overfishing in recent years has put global tuna resources under great pressure, and tuna conservation organizations have instituted quota fishing systems, making the future prospects of tuna farming, which relies on catching wild tuna, worrisome. Therefore,
carrying out the research on tuna artificial breeding technology and gradually establishing the tuna breeding industry based on artificial culture are the only feasible and effective way for the healthy and sustainable development of the tuna farming industry in the world. This paper summarizes the progress made in the field of tuna culture and breeding in the world, and provides theoretical basis and reference for the research of tuna culture and breeding technology in China.
