Abstract:

The exchange rate regime reported by International Money Fund (IMF) is acknowledged. IMF changed the rules that define exchange rate regimes several times. In this paper, we introduce the update rules in 2009 in detail and explain the meaning of ten categories. Then, we explain the “de facto” exchange rate regime classified by several researchers, especially LYS and RR method. In the conclusion, we summarize this paper, and we recommend using these two methods compositely.
