发扬沩山灵祐祖师的“水牯牛精神”
Carrying forward Zen Master Ling-you's Spirit of Water Buffalo

一代高僧灵祐禅师为佛教界留下的弥足珍贵的精神财富，值得永远珍惜和发扬：一是《沩山警策文》，精进修行，加强道风建设；二是“老僧百年后，向山下作一头水牯牛”的牛马精神，实干兴邦；三是“顿悟”与“渐修”结合，“体用兼得”，促进佛教界的整体团结；四是“悲、智、行、愿”的菩萨行，庄严国土，利乐有情。
Zen master Ling-you, an eminent monk in the world, left precious spiritual wealth which should be appreciated and carried forward in the Buddhist community. The spirit of self-cultivation in The aphorism of Weishan will strengthen the construction of Buddhism; the spirit in the words “I'd like to go down the mountain to be a water buffalo after my lifetime” will bring prosperousness to our country through dedication and sacrifice; the spirit of “both essence and function” will promote the unity of the whole Buddhism through insight combined with gradual apperception; the last but not the least is the spirit of bodhisattva walks with the goodness like mercy, wisdom, practice and persistence to create a pure land for human beings where everyone will be helpful and merciful.
