说“堂皇”——读简牍与画像札记
A Textual Research on “Tang Huang” ——The Reading Notes about the Bamboo Slips and Stone Relief

通过对居延汉简的题记文字和汉墓壁画、汉画像石、敦煌石窟壁画以及唐宋绘画中的图像解读，确认汉代的“堂皇”乃是一种正面敞开，用于接待宾客或治事的厅堂类建筑。
This paper firstly analyzes some kinds of literature materials like the signature words in the Juyan Bamboo Slips of the Han Dynasty and the images which appear in the mural paintings in tomb Han Dynasty, the stone relief of the Han Dynasty, Dun Huang manuscripts and paintings in the Tang and Song Dynasties. With the help of the textual research on these materials, this paper concludes that “Tang Huang” of Han Dynasty is a specialized definition of the buildings like hall, whose facade is open and which is used for receiving guests and handling general affairs.
