The Traditional Meaning and Modern Transformation of "Morality"

“德”是中国传统文化的普遍观念和精髓，社会的良好运行离不开德性的调节，而社会转型期横断性的时移世变促动着德性素养的变革，传统德性素养要继续发挥社会整合作用，就必须实现现代转换，由思想理论变为社会实践，由陈旧观念转向同步发展，由制度约束转为自觉自律，以“供给侧改革”思维实现传统伦理与现代价值取向的对接与互补，使“德”焕发新机。
"Morality" is the universal concept and essence of Chinese traditional culture. The good operation of the society is inseparable from the moral regulation. Moreover, transverse time-bends in social transformation period promote the moral cultivation changes. The paper suggest that if the traditional moral cultivation expects to continue playing the role of social integration, it is necessary to realize the modern transformation, by changing the theory to social practice, the old ideas to synchronous development, and system-constrained to self-conscious. Moreover, it is necessary to use the idea of "supply-side reform" to achieve the docking and the complementarity between the traditional ethics and modern value orientation, which may make "morality" glow the new energy
