The 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road: Connotations, Prospects and Approach

21世纪“海上丝绸之路”（“海丝”）的时代内涵包含了和平之路、商贸之路、合作之路、开放之路、发展之路、安全之路等六个方面；其推进落实将为中国和沿“路”参与国家及地区的经济社会全面发展创造新的战略机遇期。当前，中国应通过加强宣传、构建区域经济合作机制、推进基础设施等优先领域合作、构筑人才战略储备体系等举措稳步推进新“海丝”建设。
The connotations of the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road in the new epoch can be summarized into six aspects:the road of peace, the road of trade, the road of cooperation, the road of opening-up, the road of development and the road of security. The implementation of this initiative will create a new period of strategic opportunities for China and the participating countries and regions along the road. Currently, it is imperative for China to facilitate the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road in a steady way by strengthening publicity, building regional economic cooperation mechanisms, promoting cooperation in such priority areas as infrastructure construction and so on, and constructing strategic reserves of talents
