|
Abstract:
In order to investigate the hymenopteran parasitoids of the whitefly Bemisia tabaci in Zhejiang, east of China, the later-instar nymphs and pseudopupae of B. tabaci were sampled from various host plants in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Wenzhou biweekly or monthly and in other regions of Zhejiang irregularly. All samples were brought back to the laboratory for rearing until the emergence of parasitoids for identification. The results showed that the greatest diversity of native parasitoid species attacking B. tabaci was observed in Wenzhou. Ten species of parasitoids were found, which emerged from the whiteflies on 21 host plants. Eretmocerus mundus was found to emerge from the whiteflies on 17 host plants, Encarsia sophia on 12 host plants, and Eretmocerus debachi on ten host plants. Er. mundus, Er. debachi and En. sophia were the most abundant parasitoids, accounting for 53.0%, 27.8% and 9.9% of all parasitoid specimens reared from B. tabaci, respectively, indicating that these three species were the dominant parasitoids of B. tabaci distributed in Zhejiang Province.
