Reclaiming Anyuan Tradition?A Review of “Anyuan: Mining Chinese Revolutionary Tradition”

裴宜理《安源》一书将当前的改革放置在长时段的历史进程中进行考察，通过回溯安源工人运动实践来发掘革命传统，主张我们应汲取革命遗产中的那些有益部分，来为改革转型时期的社会不平等与社会抗议提供化解方案。本文试图对革命传统在改革时期的适恰性进行再审视，认为安源传统作为中国革命传统的一脉，的确提供了关于社会尊严与平等的认知，然而其背后的形成与演变逻辑决定了安源传统在理解与改善当前社会群体生存状况上的脆弱性，重拾安源传统缺乏“政治”与“社会”上的支撑。
：Elizabeth Perry’s book Anyuan Mining Chinese Revolutionary Tradition aims at exploring the revolutionary tradition by dating back to Anyuan workers’ movement and then providing a solution to social inequality and social protests during the reform era. The book advocates that we should learn from the beneficial ingredients of revolutionary tradition. This paper attempts to reexamine the adaptability of the revolutionary tradition in the reform era and find that Anyuan tradition does provide the cognition of social dignity and equality indeed, but its logic of evolution process indicates the vulnerability of Anyuan tradition in understanding and improving social groups’ fate.
