Abstract:

Abstract: Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the reliability and validity of a new developed physical activity diary. It wanted to explore the minimum days to record physical activity for physical activity dairy by comparing dairy to accelerometer, and to develop assessment standard of physical activity. Methods: One hundred and five people (53 males, aged 53.2±4.3; 52 females, aged 52.5±4.3) were recruited. All of them were asked to wear an accelerometer and finish a physical activity diary simultaneously for 7 days. The statistical analysis of assessing reliability consisted of ICC, Spearman-Brown prophecy formula. Pearson’s rho(r) correlation was used to evaluate the relevance and the Bland-Altman analysis was used to evaluate the consistency between self-reported diary and accelerometers. Kappa rho (Kappa) and ROC curve also were used to develop assessment standard of physical activity. Results: 1) The ICC of random two days in physical activity diary was good. 2) EE, SB, LPA, MVPA, CMVPA, MET rate were all significantly different between diary records and accelerometer. 3) Females were more liked to overestimate their daily’s MVPA and fatter people were more liked to overestimate their daily’s LPA. Conclusions: At least 3 days are needed to evaluate middle-aged people's physical activity if you record at least 9 hours each day; the person who doesn’t reach 56.2 minutes MVPA on average day is “under- active”; conclusions need further research in large population
