体育院校英语专业ESP教学及效果研究

Abstract:

摘要:近年来,国内相继有10所体育院校开设了英语专业,旨在培养“复合型体育英语人才”,然而发展中呈现出体育与英语融合不足、教材缺乏针对性和时效性等问题。以《体育英语阅读》课程为例,通过问卷调查和师生访谈,对北京体育大学英语专业ESP课程教材和教学方法及其效果进行了评估,研究结果表明:《体育英语阅读》教材通过学习体育学科知识提高语言知识水平的编写理念适用于ESP课程教学,较好地满足了学生和教师的需求,使用效果良好;课程所采用的多种教学方法适用于本课程教学,学生对课程整体教学效果评价较高;通过课程学习,学生的体育知识、语言水平和思辨能力均得到提高,但跨文化交际能力和推力能力提高幅度不大,今后教学中应在各专业课程教学中渗透跨文化交际意识,加大思维能力训练的强度。本研究将为优化体育英语专业ESP课程建设、改善ESP教学方法,完善ESP教材以及初步建立ESP课程评估体系提供参考。
Abstracts: Aiming at cultivating compound sports English talents, sports English major was successively set up in 10 sports colleges in recent years. However, problems like insufficiency of sports and English integration, poor pertinence and timeliness of course books are demonstrated in the process of development. Taking the course of Sports English Reading as an example, the present study, through questionnaire and interviews of teachers and students, investigates the ESP teaching materials, teaching methods and teaching effects of English major at Beijing Sport University. As indicated by the research results, firstly, the compiling principle of Sport English Reading fits with ESP teaching and it fairly meets the needs of teachers and students with good effects; secondly, students are quite positive about the overall teaching effectiveness of the course and the various teaching methods suits the course well; thirdly, through the course learning, students’ sports knowledge, language proficiency level and critical thinking ability have been improved, but their cross-cultural communication competence and reasoning ability have not been improved greatly. Therefore, the awareness of cross-cultural communication should be seeped into sports English courses and the training of critical thinking ability should be enhanced. This study would serve as a reference for the perfection of ESP course construction, improvement of teaching methods, improvement of ESP teaching materials and preliminary establishment of ESP course evaluation system
