Abstract:
Six female bats ( Tadarida insignis) were collected from the Biluo Cave (24°06'56.9"N, 113°21'10.0"E, 88 asl.), Yingde city, Guangdong province in June and September, 2013. T. insignis was a relative large bat, with forearm length 60.4~63.3 mm, tibia length 18.0 mm, greatest length of skull 24.8 mm, condylobasal length 23.9 mm. The ears were very large and joined at their anterior bases, upper lip thickly set with horny excrescences about twenty-four to twenty-six, the terminal half tail extended beyond the membrane. The fur was drab and had two colours. The skull was large, palatal emargination deep, and the length was longer than wide. It was the first record for T. insignis in Guangdong province. In this paper, we provided the feature of morphological structure and skull of the specimens, and compared with the specimens from Anhui, Shandong and Japan. The echolocation calls of these bats were also analyzed. The specimens were kept in Guangdong Entomological Institute.
