肿瘤放射治疗中很重要的一点是如何把握放疗获益和放射损伤间的平衡，追求最大的性价比。放射治疗设备和技术的进步使得最大限度杀伤肿瘤的同时，周围的危及器官能得到更好的保护，但是盲目地提高放射剂量并非总能带来生存获益，而综合治疗不但使得近期疗效和生存效益获得提高，而且在一定程度上减轻了放射治疗的远期毒性。
To balance the radiation benefit and damage and to maximize the cost-effectiveness are important inradiation oncology. The progress of radiation equipment and technology has been made towards better protection of organsat risk as well as the most effective tumor-killing. On another hand, increasing radiation dose blindly does not alwaysconfer survival benefit. Individualized comprehensive treatment can not only achieve better therapeutic response andquality of life, but also to some extent, reduce the long-term toxicity of radiotherapy
