Abstract:

Being an important political event, the National People’s Congress and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference (also known as “Two Sessions”) have drawn attention worldwide. Since neighboring China and playing significant roles in Chinese “the Belt and Road” initiative, countries in Southeast and South Asia have delivered reports specifically about heating issues over “Two Sessions”. The overall features of public opinion are as follow: 1) the number of reports increases as time passes; 2) reporting focuses lie mainly on economic and political fields and factual reports account for more than half of the whole coverage; 3) national differences exist in reporting focuses, accompanied by prominent nationally public opinion tendencies; 4) domestic media diversify with one and another about focuses of coverage. After research, this paper suggests that, to improve its power of discourse in international public opinion, China should strengthen its publication with English media by keeping an eye on public opinion tendency as well as standpoint of diversified media overseas.
