HARMONI AGAMA DAN FILSAFAT DALAM PEMIKIRAN IBN RUSYD

Abstract: This paper intends to reveal Ibn Rushd’s thought about the relationship between religion and philosophy as it became a polemic and controversy, especially in the Islamic society. With a philosophical approach and rational method Ibn Rushd built arguments to assert that religion and philosophy are not contradictory, but instead have a synergistic relationship for human life (the perfect harmony between religion and philosophy). It is even accordance with Quran, as a source of Islamic teachings, that actually ordered the activity of philosophizing. If there is a potential difference based on text, there must be ta’wil against him. Ibn Rushd concluded that religion should be understood based on the level of understanding of the human mind that is khottobiyyah , jadaliyyah and burhaniyyah .
