Abstract:
inthisresearch,thetreatabilityofsolidsfromsanitarylandfillleachatebymicrofiltrationmembranewasinvestigatedandthefoulingofthemembranewascarefullystudied.continuousmicrofiltrationprocesswascarriedoutfor21hinexperimentalsysteminvolvedcoagulationwithmoringaoleiferafollowedbyfiltrationusingsubmergedhollowfibremicrofiltrationmembrane(mfm).coagulationwithm.oleifera,airdiffusersandbackflushtechniquewereusedforpreventingoralleviatingfoulingofthemembrane.thehollowfibremfmshowedhighremovalsof98%,91%and99%forturbidity,colourandtotalsuspendedsolidsrespectively.itwasobtainedatthebeginningofthefiltration.however,qualityofthefiltraterapidlydeclinedduringthefiltrationprocess.foulingwasfoundtoproceedaccordingtotheclassicalcake?ltrationmodel.coagulationwithm.oleiferaaswellastheback-flushtechniquecouldnotfullyrestorethedeteriorationoccurredtothemembrane.
