Abstract:
?thecatalyticconversionofmethanoltodimethylether(dme)wasstudiedovercuo/al2o3,zno/al2o3andzno-cuo/al2o3nanocatalystspreparedinpresenceorabsenceofultrasonicirradiation.thecatalystswerecharacterizedbyx-raydiffraction(xrd),surfacecharacterizationmethod(bet),scanningelectronmicroscope(sem),h2-temperatureprogrammedreduction(h2-tpr)andtemperatureprogrammeddesorptionofammonia(nh3-tpd).theexperimentalresultsshowthatduringcatalyticdehydrationofmethanoltodimethylether,theactivitiesofthecuo/al2o3,zno/al2o3andzno-cuo/al2o3catalystspreparedusingultrasonictreatmentaremuchhigherthanthosepreparedinabsenceofultrasonication.semshowsthattheuseofultrasonicationresultsinmuchsmallernanoparticles.betandxrdshowthattheultrasonicationincreasesthesurfaceareaandporevolumeofthecatalysts.h2-tprprofilesindicatedthatreducibilityofthesonicatednanocatalystsiscarriedoutatlowertemperatures.nh3-tpdshowsthatultrasoundirradiationhasenhancedtheacidityofthenanocatalystandhenceenhancedcatalyticperformancefordmeformation.
