DiscoveryofmarineUpperJurassic-LowerCretaceousrocksinUttaraditProvince:anewapproachforpaleoenvironmentandtectonicsettingsKeywords: Marinebivalve,ChamBonReservoir,Uttaradit,Thailand Abstract: Thesedimentaryrocksexposedinthestudyarea,theChamBonreservoirandnearbyareainPhichaiDistrict,UttaraditProvince,Thailandweregroupedasnon-marineJurassicPhraWihanFormationoftheKhoratGroup.AfterthepreviousreconnaissancebygeologistsofDepartmentofMineralResourcesofThailand,marinebivalveshavebeennewlydiscoveredinthisarea.Thismadeuseagerlytoexaminethesedimentology,stratigraphyandgeotectonicevolutionofthisregion.Thepurposeofthisresearchistostudyindetailthesedimentaryrocksinordertoreconstructthedepositionalenvironment.Twosections,theChamBonsectionandanothersectionat58km-stoneofHighwayno.11,havebeenmeasuredand25sampleswerepetrographicallyexamined.TheChamBonsec-tion,whichis252mthick,canbelithologicallydi-videdinto3parts:thelower,middleandupperparts.Thelowerpartischaracterizedbythick-beddedandmassivequartzarenite.
