PotentialandSuitabilityEvaluationofCO2GeologicalStorageinMajorSedimentaryBasinsofChina,andtheDemonstrationProjectinOrdosBasin, PP. 1319-1332 Keywords: CO2geologicalstorage,potentialandsuitabilityevaluation,atlas,demonstrationproject Abstract: From2010to2012,theChinaGeologicalSurveyCenterforHydrogeologyandEnvironmentalGeologySurvey(CHEGS)carriedouttheproject“PotentialevaluationanddemonstrationprojectofCO2GeologicalStorageinChina”.Duringthisproject,wedevelopedanevaluationindexsystemandtechnicalmethodsforthepotentialandsuitabilityofCO2geologicalstoragebasedonChina’sgeologicalconditions,andevaluatedthepotentialandsuitabilityoftheprimarybasinsforCO2geologicalstorage,inordertodrawaseriesofregionalscalemaps(atascaleof1:5000000)anddevelopanatlasofthemainsedimentarybasinsinChina.Byusingthesetools,wedelineatedmanypotentialtargetsforCO2storage.WealsobuilttechniquesandmethodsforsiteselectionandtheexplorationandassessmentofCO2geologicalstorageindeepsalineaquifers.Furthermore,throughcooperationwiththeChinaShenhuaCoaltoLiquidandChemicalCo.,Ltd.,wesuccessfullyconstructedthefirstcoal-baseddemonstrationprojectforCO2geologicalstorageindeepsalineaquifersintheYijinhuoluoBannerofOrdosintheInnerMongoliaAutonomousRegion,whichbroughtaboutthebasicpreliminarytheories,techniques,andmethodsofgeologicalCO2storageindeepsalineaquifersunderChina’sgeologicalconditions.
