ANALGONKIANCONTINENTALSEDIMENTARYFORMATIONINWESTERNSHANSIAbstract: TheAlgonkiansedimentsofwesternShansiarerepresentedbyasedimentaryanderuptiveformationofverygreatthickness.Theyconsistofcoarseandfinegroinedsandstones,generallyofreddishbrownandwhitecolour,interbeddedwithinconsistentcoarserandfinerconglomeratelayersandreddishbrownshales.Theformationisintrudedbydiabases,occuringpartlyasverticalorobliquedikes,andpartlyasintrusiveoreffusivesheets.
