ANewAspectofRelationshipsbetweenElectricSparkSensitivityandThermalStabilityofSomePolynitroArenesKeywords: electricsparksensitivity,explosive,thermalstability,polynitroarene Abstract: AnESZKTTVinstrumentofanew,relativelysimpleconstructionhasbeenappliedtodeterminationofelectricsparksensitivityof29polynitroarenes,expressedassparkenergy,EES,requiredfor50percentinitiationprobability.Thethermalstabilitythresholds,Tmax,werecalculatedfromthepublishedArrheniusparametersofmonomolecularthermaldecompositionofthestudiedcompounds,predominantlyobtainedundertheconditionsoftheRussianmanometricmethod.AnapproximaterelationshiphasbeenfoundbetweenthelnEESvaluesandthresholdTmaxvalues.Inthesenseofthisrelationship,thecompoundsstudiedfallintoseveralsubgroups.Thereasonofthesaiddiversificationliesinthedecompositionreactionrateatthetemperatureofonsetoftheirthermaldecomposition.Ithasbeenfoundthatineachsubgroupincreasingthermalstabilityofpolynitroarenesisaccompaniedbyincreasingelectricsparksensitivityofthesesubstances.Thisfactmustbetakenintoaccountifwedealwiththeproblemofelectricsparkenergytransferintothereactioncentreofthemolecule.
