APreliminaryStudyofthePlasmaPyrolysisofWasteTyresKeywords: thermalplasma,pyrolysis,wastetyres,wasterecycling Abstract: Thermalplasmapyrolysisofwastetyresforrecoveringenergywasperformedinanitrogenplasmareactor.ThemaingaseousproductswereidentifiedbychromatographyasH2,CO,CH4,C2H2andsoon.Fromaseriesofexperiments,theeffectsoftheprocessparametersofthermalplasmapyrolysiswereinvestigated.Underourexperimentalconditionswithsteaminjection,thetotalcontentsofH2andCOreachedupto38.3%inthegasproduct,C2H2upto4%,andthemaximumcalorificvalueofthepyrolysisgaswas8.96MJ/m3.Theresultsindicatethatplasma-assistedthermaldecompositionofwastetyreparticlesmaybeausefulwayforrecoveringenergyandusefulchemicals.
