ExperimentalandNumericalInvestigationsofanIce-slurryGeneratorKeywords: icegenerator,ice-slurry,numericalsimulation,heattransfer Abstract: Anewtestfacilityequippedwithrefrigerantandbrinecirculationsystems,andarotating-scraperice-slurrygeneratorwasconstructedtoanalyzetheice-slurryflowandheattransferaccompaniedbyphasechangeinanindustrialgenerator.Theaxialandtransversebrinetemperatureandicefractionconcentrationprofilesintheicegeneratorweremeasured.Theheattransferefficiencylowerthantheaveragewasidentifiedintheupperhalfoftheicegeneratoranditscausewasdeterminedbyconductingthree-dimensionalnumericalsimulationusingacommercialCFDcode,FLUENT.Approachesofimprovingthebrine-sideheattransferrateswereinvestigatedbyincorporatingextramixingbladesfromnumericalsimulation.
