ANovelApproachtoBioleachSolublePhosphorusfromRockPhosphateKeywords: bioleach,solublephosphorus,rockphosphate,pyrite,Acidithiobacillusferrooxidans Abstract: Anovelapproachtobioleachsolublephosphorusfromrockphosphate,involvingthebio-oxidationofpyritebyadaptatedAcidithiobacillusferrooxidans(At.f)andtheproductofsulfuricacidtodissolverockphosphate,hasbeenproposedinthispaper.ThesolublephosphoruscouldbeleachedmoreeffectivelyinthepresenceofpyritebyAt.fthanthatleacheddirectlybysulfuricacid.Theoptimaltechnologicalparametersarepresented.Thehighestphosphorusleachingrateis9.00%whentheculturesubstrateisthemixtureofFeSO4?7H2Oandpyrite,thephosphorusleachingrateis8.00%whentheinitialpHandculturetimeare2.5and5d,respectively.Theoptimalrockphosphateparticlesizeis0.05mmfortheleachingofphosphorus.Thebiggerthegrainsofpyrite,thelowerthephosphorusleachingrate.ThebacteriumAt.fshouldbeappropriatelyadaptated,whichmakesiteasiertobioleachsolublephosphorusfromrockphosphate.
