DegradationKineticsofXyloseandGlucoseinHydrolysateContainingDiluteSulfuricAcidKeywords: biomass,dilutesulfuricacid,xylose,glucose,kineticbehavior Abstract: Inpreparationoffuelalcoholfrombiomassasfeedstock,hydrolysiswithdiluteacidascatalystisonewaytoproducefermentablesaccharide,xyloseandglucose.However,theacidisalsothecatalystindegradationofxyloseandglucoseandtheyieldofsacchrideisdependentonthekineticbehaviorsofsaccharide.Thedegradationkineticsofxyloseandglucoseinthehydrolysatewasinvestigatedundertheconventionalprocessconditionsofhydrogenionconcentrationfrom0.05to0.2mol/Landtemperaturefrom150to200℃.Withanumericalcalculationmethod,thekineticparameterswereestimated,andtheactivationenergyofxyloseandglucoseinthedegradationreactionwasobtained.Thekineticequationscorrelatingtheeffectofhydrogenionconcentrationontherateconstantsofdegradationreactionwereestablished.Comparisonbetweenthecalculatedresultsfromtheequationsandexperimentalonesprovedthattheestablishedkineticmodelcouldsatisfactorilypredictthedegradationbehaviorofxyloseandglucoseintheacidichydrolysate.
