Extracting change information of land use and soil erosion based on RS & GIS technologystrationKeywords: Yulin,prefecture,RS,&,GIS,land,use,chang,soil,erosion Abstract: RapidlandusechangehastakenplaceinmanyaridregionsofChinasuchasYulinprefectureoverthelastdecadeduetorehabilitationmeasures.Landusechangeandsoilerosiondynamicswereinvestigatedbythecombineduseofremotesensingandgeographicinformationsystems(GIS).TheobjectivesweretodeterminelandusetransitionratesandsoilerosionchangeinYulinprefectureover15yearsfrom1986to2000.Significantchangesinlanduseandsoilerosionoccurredintheareaoverthestudyperiod.Theresultsshowthesignificantdecreaseinbarrenlandmainlyduetoconversiontograssland.Agriculturallandincreasedassociatedwithconversionsfromgrasslandandbarrenland.Theareaofwatererosionandwinderosiondeclined.ThestudydemonstratesthattheintegrationofsatelliteremotesensingandGISisaneffectiveapproachforanalyzingthedirection,rate,andspatialpatternoflanduseandsoilerosionchange.
