Abstract:

Bythetechnologyofinversesuspensionpolymerization,theophyllinetemplatephenolicresinsorbent(TTPS)andnontemplatephenolicresinsorbent(NTPS)havebeensynthesized.ComparisonoftheophyllineadsorptiononTTPSandNTPSwasmade.TheexperimentalresultsshowedthattheadsorptiondatafittedtheLangmuirmodel,whichimpliedthemonomolecularlayersorptioninthesesystems.TheophyllineadsorptiondatamatchedFreundilichequationwithinthelowconcentrationrange,whichmeanttheadsorptionwaspreferential.ByScatchardanalysis,itwasfoundthatTTPSshowedspecificbindingsites.ThedissociationconstantsandthemaximumbindingcapacitywerecalculatedtobeKd1=0129mmol/LandQmax1=138μmol/gforhighaffinitybindingsitesandKd2=0433mmol/LandQmax2=184μmol/gforloweraffinitybindingsites,respectively.Moreover,itwasfoundthatthesorptionratedataoftheophyllineadequatelyfittedasemiempiricalrateequationnininitialperiod.Itconfirmedtheparticlediffusioncontrolmechanismofthesorptionprocess.When200mmol/Lsolutionoftheophyllineattherateof3BV/hflowedthroughTTPScolumns,breakthroughpointwas24thbedvolumeunderdynamiccondition.Itwasclearthatwith1mol/Lhydrochloricacidattherateofdesorption15BV/htheremovingof972%ofallthetheophyllineadsorbedonTTPSwasobservedat4bedvolumes.TheresultshowedthatTTPSpossessedexcellentdesorptionperformance.
