APPLICATION OF EXTENDED EVOLUTIONARY PROGRAMMING TO SVC PLACEMENTKeywords: voltage,stability,optimal,SVC,placement,extended,evolutionary,programming Abstract: Anextendedevolutionaryprogramming(EXEP)techniqueisproposedforoptimalsolutionoftheSVCplacementinvoltagestabilityenhancement.Multiplegenetictransformationoperatorsareusedtoensurethattheglobaloptimalsolutioncanbeobtained.Theproblemisposedastheminimizationofthefunctionwhoseobjectivesaretoincreasethereactivepowermargin,thereactivepowerspinningreserveandthesystemvoltageprofile.AtthesametimeitisrequiredthatthetransmissionlossesarereducedandtheadditionalcostofnewSVCdevicesisminimal.Alltheoperationalinequalityconstraintsaretransformedtotheobjectivefunctionbyusingquadraticandcosinepenaltyfunctions.NumericalresultsshowthatEXEPtechniqueissuperiortosimulatedannealing(SA)technique.
