Abstract:

Warm-mixasphalt(WMA)technologywasappliedforasphaltmixture,plant-producedporousWMAusingLEADCAPadditive(porousWMA-LEADCAP)testsectionwasbuiltandcompactedat30℃lowerthanporoushot-mixasphalt(porousHMA)testsection.MarshallmixdesignswereconductedforporousWMA-LEADCAPmixtureandporousHMAmixtureintermsofMarshallstability,Cantabrolossanddynamicstability.Theworkability,compactablityandsurfacequalityofporousWMA-LEADCAPpavementwereinvestigated,andtheengineeringpropertiesofplant-producedporousWMA-LEADCAPmixtureandplant-producedporousHMAmixturewereevaluatedbasedonindirecttensilestrengthtestanddynamicimmersiontest.AnalysisresultshowsthatLEADCAPadditivedoesnotaffectpolymer-modifiedasphaltintermsofpenetration,softeningpoint,viscosity,ductility,toughnessandtenacity.PorousWMA-LEADCAPpavementhassimilarfielddensity,permeabilityandsmoothnesscomparedwithstandardporousHMApavement.Plant-producedporousWMA-LEADCAPmixtureisequivalenttoplant-producedporousHMAmixtureinindirecttensilestrength,toughnessandstrippingresistance.4tabs,4figs,9refs.
