Changing Patterns of Plant Communities in the Drawdownb Zone of Baijia Creek Under the Influence of Three Gorges Reservoir Impoundment

"SinceOctoberof2006,theThreeGorgesReservoir(TGR)hasfinishedtheimpoundmentfrom156mto175m.Inordertofindtheinfluenceoftheimpoundmenttotheplantcommunityandits爷patterninthedrawdownzonefurther,aninvestigationontheplantcommunityoftheBaijiaCreekwasconductedagainfromJulytoAugust2011.Theplantcommunityandits’patternundertheinfluenceofimpoundmentat175mwascomparedtothe156m.Theresultsshow101speciesofvascularplantbelongto39families,93generashavebeeninvestigated,amongwhich84speciesbelongto30families,74generasdistributedinthedrawdownzone.ThedistributeareaofXanthiumsibiricumandPaspalumpaspaloides,whichonceweredominantspeciesinthedrawdownzone,decreasedobviously.Cyperusrotundus,Echinochloacrusgalivar.zelayensis,andAeschynomeneindicacometobenewdominantspeciesinthestudyarea.TheimpoundmentoftheTGRto175minfluencedtheplantcommunityandits爷patterninthedrawdownzonesignificantly."
