Abstract:

SpaceVeryLongBaselineInterferometry(S-VLBI)isanaperturesynthesistechniqueutilizinganarrayofradiotelescopesincludinggroundtelescopesandspaceorbitingtelescopes.Itcanachievemuchhigherspatialresolutionthanthatfromtheground-onlyVLBI.Inthispaper,anewconceptoftwinspacecraftS-VLBIhasbeenproposed,whichutilizesthespace-spacebaselinesformedbytwosatellitestoobtainlargeranduniformuvcoveragewithoutatmosphericinfluenceandhenceachievehighqualityimageswithhigherangularresolution.Theorbitselectionsofthetwosatellitesareinvestigated.TheimagingperformanceandactuallaunchconditionsarealltakenintoaccountinorbitdesigningofthetwinspacecraftS-VLBI.Threeschemesoforbitdesignusingtraditionalellipticalorbitsandcircularorbitsarepresented.Thesedesignresultscanbeusedfordifferentscientificgoals.Furthermore,thesedesigningideascanprovideusefulreferencesforthefutureChinesemillimeter-waveS-VLBImission.
