CompletemitogenomeofthePaintedJezebel,DeliashypareteLinnaeus(Lepidoptera:Pieridae)anditscomparisonwithotherbutterflyspeciesDOI: 10.3724/SP.J.1141.2012.E05-06E111, PP. 111-120 Keywords: Lepidoptera,Pieridae,Deliashyparete,Mitochondrialgenome Abstract: Inthepresentstudy,wereportthefirstcompletemitochondrialgenome(mitogenome)ofthePaintedJezebel,Deliashyparete.ThemitogenomeofDeliashypareteis15186bpinlength,andhastypicalsetsof37genes:13protein-codinggenes(PCGs),2ribosomalRNAs,22transferRNAsandanon-codingA+T-richregion.Allprotein-codinggenesareinitiatedbyATNcodons,exceptforCOI,whichistentativelydesignatedbytheCGAcodon,asobservedinotherbutterflyspecies.Atotalof10PCGsharboredthecompleteterminationcodonTAAorTAG,whiletheCOI,COIIandND5genesendedatasingleTresidue.All22tRNAgenesshowtypicalcloverstructures,withtheexceptionofthetRNASer(AGN)whichlacksthedihydrouridine(DHU)stemandisinsteadreplacedbyasimpleloop.Thirteenintergenicspacerstotaling153bp,and13overlappingregionstotaling46bparescatteredthroughoutthewholegenome.The377bplongofD.hypareteA+T-richregionisnotcomprisedoflargerepetitivesequences,butharborsseveralfeaturescharacteristicofthelepidopteraninsects,includingthemotifATAGAfollowedbyan18bppoly-Tstretch,amicrosatellite-like(AT)5elementprecededbytheATTTAmotif,an10bppolyA-likestretch(AAAAATAAAA)presentimmediatelyupstreamtRNAMet.
