Visuospatialpropertiesofcaudalarea7binMacacafascicularisDOI: 10.3724/SP.J.1141.2013.E02E50 Keywords: Referenceframe,Spatialcoding,Receptivefield,Area7b Abstract: Toproceedfromsensationtomovement,integrationandtransformationofinformationfromdifferentsensesandreferenceframesarerequired.Severalbrainareasareinvolvedinthistransformationprocess,butpreviousneuroanatomicalandneurophysiologicalstudieshaveimplicatedthecaudalarea7basoneparticularcomponentofthistransformationsystem.Inthisstudy,wepresentthefirstquantitativereportonthespatialcodingpropertiesofcaudalarea7b.Theresultsshowedthatneuronsinthisareahadintermediatecomponentcharacteristicsinthetransformationsystem;theareacontainedbimodalneurons,andneuronsinthisareaencodespatialinformationusingahybridreferenceframe.Theseresultsprovideevidencethatcaudalarea7bmaybelongtothereferenceframetransformationsystem,thuscontributingtoourgeneralunderstandingofthetransformationsystem.
