Abstract:

?Ironzirconiumphosphate(ZPFe)nanoparticleswerefoundtofunctionasanefficientcatalystfortheacetylationofawiderangeofalcoholsandphenolsusingaceticanhydride,generatinggoodtoexcellentyieldsundersolvent-freeconditions.Thestericandelectronicpropertiesofvarioussubstrateshadasignificantinfluenceonthereactionconditionsrequiredtoachievetheacetylation.Thecatalystusedinthecurrentstudywascharacterizedbyinductivelycoupledplasma-opticalemissionspectrometry,X-raydiffraction,N2adsorption-desorption,scanningelectronmicroscopy,andtransmissionelectronmicroscopy.Theseanalysesrevealedthattheinterlayerdistanceinthecatalystincreasedfrom7.5to9.3?whenFe3+wasintercalatedbetweenthelayers,whereasthecrystallinityofthematerialwasreduced.Thisnanocatalystcouldalsoberecoveredandreusedatleastsixtimeswithoutanydiscernibledecreaseinitscatalyticactivity.Thisnewmethodfortheacetylationofalcoholsandphenolshasseveralimportantadvantages,includingmildandenvironmentallyfriendlyreactionconditions,aswellasgoodtoexcellentyieldsandafacilework-up.
