Abstract:

?ZSM-5zeolitewithahexagonalcubicmorphologywassynthesizedbyahydrothermalmethodusingTritonX-100,anonionicsurfactant.ThesamplespreparedwithandwithoutthesurfactantwerecharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction(XRD),Fouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy,N2adsorption,highresolutiontransmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),highresolutionscanningelectronmicroscopy,energydispersiveX-rayanalysis,andNH3temperature-programmeddesorption.TheXRDpatternsconfirmedtheformationofapureZSM-5crystallinephasewithoutsecondaryphases.TEMimagesrevealedthatthehexagonalcubesweremadeofpeanut-shapednanoparticleswithvoids.Thecatalyticactivityofthezeolitesampleswasevaluatedusingtheselectiveoxidationofbenzylalcoholwithtertiary-butylhydrogenperoxideastheoxidantat90℃.Thesurfactant-assistedpreparationyieldedazeolitethatgaveahigherconversionthantheonepreparedintheabsenceofthesurfactant.Thecatalystwasretrievedandreusedfourtimeswithoutsignificantlossinactivityandselectivity.
