Novelpolystyrene-anchoredzinccomplex:Efficientcatalystforphenoloxidation

Abstract:
?Thenovelrecyclablefree-ONNO-tetradentateSchiffbaseligandN,N′-bis(2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde)4-methylbenzene-1,2-diamine(3-MOBdMBn)wassynthesized.Complexationofthisligandwithzinc(3-MOBdMBn-Zn)wasperformed,andthecatalyticactivityofthecomplexwasevaluated.Thepolymer-supportedanalogofthiscomplex(P-3-MOBdMBn-Zn)wassynthesized,anditscatalyticactivitywasstudied.Thesefreeandpolymer-anchoredzinccomplexeswerepreparedbythereactionsofmetalsolutionswithonemolarequivalentofunsupported3-MOBdMBnorP-3-MOBdMBninmethanolundernitrogen.Thecatalyticactivityof3-MOBdMBn-ZnandP-3-MOBdMBn-Znwasevaluatedinphenoloxidation.TheactivityofP-3-MOBdMBn-Znwassignificantlyaffectedbythepolymersupport,andtherateofphenolconversionwasaround50%forpolystyrene-supported3-MOBdMBn.Theexperimentalresultsindicatedthatthereactionratewasaffectedbythepolymersupport,andtherateofphenolconversionwas1.64μmol/(L·s)inthepresenceofpolystyrene-supported3-MOBdMBn.
