Abstract:

?Aself-supportingZSM-5monolithwithahierarchicalporositywaspreparedusingpolyurethanefoam(PUF)asastructuraltemplateandahydrothermalsynthesisprocedure.Thesynthesizedmonolithwascharacterizedandinvestigatedtowardstheadsorptionandcatalyticoxidationoftrichloroethylene(TCE).AdsorptionofTCEwasstudiedgravimetricallyandoxidationofTCEwasstudiedusingavapor-phasedown-flowreactor.MonolithicZSM-5displayedgoodsorptionpropertiesandcompletelyoxidizedTCE.Conversionlevelsof50%and90%wereachievedatreducedtemperatures(by~50℃)whencomparedwiththeconversiontemperaturesobtainedfromthepowdercounterparts.BesidestheactivityofthemonolithtowardsTCEadsorptionandoxidation,itwasstableandenhanceddiffusion,therebyreducingpressuredropstoagreatextentowingtoitshierarchicalporousnature.
