Abstract:

?SupportedRucatalystswerepreparedbywetimpregnationtoevaluatetheroleofdifferentoxidesupports(Al2O3,SiO2,TiO2,ZrO2)insorbitolhydrogenolysistoglycols.X-raydiffraction,transmissionelectronmicroscopy,hydrogenchemisorption,X-rayphotoelectronspectroscopy,andNH3temperature-programmeddesorptionwereusedtocharacterizethecatalysts,whichwereactiveinthehydrogenolysisofsorbitol.ThesupportaffectedboththephysicochemicalpropertiesandcatalyticbehaviorofthesupportedRuparticles.ThecharacterizationresultsrevealedthattheRu/Al2O3catalysthasahighsurfaceacidity,partiallyoxidizedRuspeciesonthesurface,andahighersurfaceRu/Alatomicratio,whichgaveitthehighestselectivityandyieldtoglycols.
