Abstract:

?Thereisahighovervoltageintheoxidationofmethanolinfuelcells,andsomodifiedelectrodesareusedtodecreaseit.AmodifiedelectrodethatusedNi(Ⅱ)loadedanalcimezeolitetocatalyzetheelectrooxidationofmethanolinalkalinesolutionwasproposed.Analcimezeolitewassynthesizedbyhydrothermalsynthesis,andNi(Ⅱ)ionswereincorporatedintotheanalcimestructure,whichwasthenmixedwithcarbonpastetopreparemodifiedelectrode.Theelectrocatalyticoxidationofmethanolonthesurfaceofthemodifiedelectrodeinalkalinesolutionwasinvestigatedbycyclicvoltammetryandchronoamperometry.Theeffectsofthescanrateofthepotential,concentrationofmethanol,andamountofzeolitewereinvestigated.Therateconstantforthecatalyticreactionofmethanolwas6×103cm3mol-1s-1frommeasurementsusingchronoamperometry.Theproposedelectrodesignificantlyimprovedtheelectrontransferrateanddecreasedtheoverpotentialformethanoloxidation.
