Abstract:

?AZnAl2O4@SiO2nanocompositewaspreparedfrommetalnitratesandtetraethylorthosilicatebythesol-gelprocess,andcharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction,Fouriertransforminfrared,transmissionelectronmicroscopy,andN2adsorption-desorptionmeasurements.Thenanocompositewastestedasaheterogeneouscatalystfortheacetylationofalcohols,phenols,andaminesundersolvent-freeconditions.Underoptimizedconditions,efficientacetylationofthesesubstrateswithaceticanhydrideovertheZnAl2O4@SiO2nanocompositewasobtained.Acetylationofanilinesandprimaryaliphaticaminesproceededrapidlyatroomtemperature,whilethereactiontimewaslongerfortheacetylationofalcoholsandphenols,showingthatanamineNH2groupcanbeselectivelyacetylatedinthepresenceofalcoholicorphenolicOHgroups.Thecatalystcanbereusedwithoutobviouslossofcatalyticactivity.ThecatalyticactivityoftheZnAl2O4@SiO2nanocompositewashigherthanthatofpureZnAl2O4.Themethodgiveshighyields,andisclean,costeffective,compatiblewithsubstrateshavingotherfunctionalgroupsanditissuitableforpracticalorganicsynthesis.
