Abstract:

?Forthermodynamicallyandkineticallycontrolledcatalyticreactions,theinfluenceofamembraneisdiscussed.Forreactionsoperatingneartothethermodynamicequilibrium,theconversioncanbeincreasedifone/alloftheproductsis/areselectivelyremovedinanextractortypemembranereactor.Examplesareesterifications,dehydrogenations,andwaterdissociationusingwater,hydrogen,andoxygenselectivemembranes,respectively.Forkineticallycontrolledreactions,i.e.reactionswithaverynegativefreeenthalpy,mainlytheselectivitycanbeincreasedviathecontrolofthepartialpressureoftheeductsbydosingeffectsusingdistributor/contactormembranereactors.Examplesarepartialoxidationsandhydrogenations.Indetail,theapplicationofanoxygentransportingperovskitehollowfibermembranewithanano-designedgrainboundarystructureinthehydrogenproductionbythermalwatersplittingandinthepartialoxidationofhydrocarbonsascasestudiesforthermodynamicallyandkineticallycontrolledreactionsisdiscussed.
