Abstract:

?CeO2nanocrystalsweresynthesizedbyasimpleprecipitationmethodandcalcinationat600°C.(NH4)2Ce(NO3)6andammoniawereusedasprecursors.TheCeO2nanoparticleswerecharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction,Fouriertransforminfraredspectroscopy,transmissionelectronmicroscopy,andN2adsorption.ThephotodegradationofmethylenebluecatalyzedbyCeO2nanoparticleswasstudiedunderUVandsunlightirradiation.Thehighestdegradationwasobtainedwith1.0g/LCeO2atpH11within125min.Thepseudofirstorderrateconstantsofdyebleachingwerecalculatedas16.2x10-3and15.7x10-3min-1underUVandsunlightirradiation,respectively.Theeffectofiso-PrOH,iodideion,andH2O2wasstudiedtopredictthepathwayofdyedegradation.Theobtainedresultsindicatetheeffectofphotogeneratedholesinthedegradationmechanismofthedye.Also,thephotocatalyticactivityofthepreparedphotocatalystwasstudiedinthepresenceofseveralnegativeions.
