Abstract:

?Aseriesof12-molybdophosphoricacid(MPA)supportedonV2O5dispersedγ-Al2O3catalystswithdifferentvanadialoadingswerepreparedbyimpregnationandcharacterizedbyN2adsorption-desorption,X-raydiffraction,temperature-programmedreduction,insitulaserRamanspectroscopy,UV-Visdiffusedreflectancespectroscopy,scanningelectronmicroscopy,andtemperature-programmeddesorptionofNH3techniques.Theircatalyticactivitieswereevaluatedforthevaporphaseaerobicoxidationofbenzylalcohol.Thecatalystsexhibitedhighcatalyticactivityandtheconversionofbenzylalcoholdependedonthevanadiacontentwhilethecatalystwith15wt%V2O5contentshowedoptimumactivity.Thecharacterizationresultssuggestthepresenceofwell-dispersedV2O5andpartiallydisintegratedKegginionsofMPAonthesupport.InsituRamanstudiesshowedareducedMo(IV)specieswhenthecatalystswerecalcinedathightemperatures.ThehighoxidationactivityofthecatalystsisrelatedtothesynergisticeffectbetweenMPAandV2O5.
