Abstract:

?Asol-gelmethodwasusedtoprepareWO3/MWCNT-TiO2composites.Theirphotocatalyticactivitieswereevaluatedbythedegradationofmethyleneblue(MB)solutionunderUVlight.ThecatalystswerecharacterizedbyX-raydiffraction,specificsurfaceareameasurement,energy-dispersiveX-rayanalysis,transmissionandscanningelectronmicroscopy.AqueousMBsolutionsof100mlwerephotodegradedbyasmallamountoftheWO3/MWCNT-TiO2compositeunderUVlightirradiation.ThephotocatalyticdatashowedthattheWO3/MWCNT-TiO2compositeachievedahighrateofMBphotodegradation.ThiswasattributedtotheuseofMWCNTwhichcanabsorbUVlighttocreatephoto-inducedelectrons,strongadsorptionofdyemoleculesonthephotocatalyst,andreducedrecombinationrateofelectron-holesintheWO3/MWCNT-TiO2compositeduetotheintroductionoftheWO3semiconductor.
