NitrousOxideDecompositionoverAlkali-PromotedMagnesiumCobaltiteCatalystsDOI: 10.1016/S1872-2067(10)60174-X, PP. 264-272 Keywords: nitrousoxide,cobaltoxide,magnesiumcobaltite,spinel,alkalipromotion Abstract: ?ThedirectdecompositionofN2Owasinvestigatedoveraseriesofmagnesiumcobaltitecatalysts,MgxCo1-xCo2O4(0.0≤x≤1.0),whichwerepreparedbythethermaldecompositionofstoichiometricamountsofmagnesiumhydroxideandcobaltacetate.Thethermalgenesisofthedifferentcatalystsfromtheirprecursorswasexploredusingthermogravimetricanalysis,differentialthermalanalysis,andX-raydiffraction.TextureanalysiswascarriedoutusingN2adsorptionat–196°C.Wefoundthatallthecatalyststhatwerecalcinedat500°Chaveaspinelstructure.N2Odecompositionactivitywasfoundtoincreasewithanincreaseinthespinelstructure’smagnesiumcontent.Theinfluenceofalkalicationpromoters(Li,Na,K,andCs)ontheactivityofthemostactivecatalystintheMgxCo1-xCo2O4series,i.e.MgCo2O4,wasalsoinvestigated.Thesequenceofthepromotionaleffectwasfoundtobe:un-promoted
