Abstract:

?ThedeactivationofnickelcatalystsusedinArakandRazipetrochemicalcomplexesfollowedbycatalystregenerationwasevaluated.ThecharacterizationofthedifferentstructureswasmadebypowderX-raydiffraction(XRD),scanningelectronmicroscopy(SEM),energydispersiveX-rayspectroscopy(EDS),transmissionelectronmicroscopy(TEM),andcarbon&sulfuranalyzer.TheNiparticlesizewasestimatedfromXRDpatternsandTEMgraphs.TheagglomerationofnickelparticleandthepoisonbysulfurcomponentswererecognizedasthemainreasonsindeactivationofArakandRazicatalysts,respectively.TheactivityoftheusedcatalystsbeforeandafterregenerationwasmeasuredonmethanesteamreformingataCH-4:H2Oratioof1:3at850oC.TheregenerationprocessesforArakandRazisampleswereperformedwithCO2asanoxidativeatmosphereandsteamasaregeneratingagent,respectively.Theresultsshowthat,(1)noresidualsulfurcomponentswereontheregeneratedRazicatalystsurfacewithoutchangingthestructureofthecatalystandtheregeneratedcatalysthasgained80%ofitscatalyticactivity,andthat(2)thenickelparticlesizeofregeneratedArakspecimendecreasedremarkablyasmeasuredbyDebye-ScherrerequationfromXRDpatterns.TEMimageswereinagreementwiththeXRDresultsandindicatedadecreaseinnickelparticlesizeofregeneratedcatalyst.Additionally,inbothregeneratedcatalystsallthecokeonthesurfaceofthesupportwaseliminatedafterregeneration.
